why cant everyday be so productive??

Things i have done today.

9-11am : critical thinking class

11am-1pm : searching for saloon and had a haircut

1pm-2pm : chatting on msn + lunch

2pm-5pm : played football

5pm-6pm : bathe and prepared for formal hall

6pm-7pm : walked to magdalene college cambridge for formal hall

7pm-9pm : formal hall (dinner)

9pm-10pm : walked home

10pm-1am : on9 + blogging

today's haircut was cheaper than expected. cost about £15 compared to what i thought to be around £20-£30. The pictures are alyssa and i before and after my haircut. by the way alyssa is the girl who scored like 18A1? who broke the malaysian record 2 years ago.
before after

see the difference? haha.. very obvious lol. anyway i tell you, the angmo(s) are super weird. today appeared to be the hotest day in uk in 7months and the Sun was so hot and so bright. These ppl dunno where they appeared from and all of a sudden they were all over parkers piece field which was a hassle because we had to be careful not to hit them while shooting. sigh. Some were half naked lying down reading books, some slept and some were doing things that couples do. i mean not the extreme one but kissing la.

26th april 08

so right i went to the so-called formal hall which is a formal dinner among oxford and cambridge students and sometimes with the Dons or important ppl who would give speeches. but this one that i got invited to wasnt the special one so nobody gave any speeches. the people who went were all adults. not that im not but they are like the youngest was 24 excluding me which im only 18. most of them were either doing their PhDs and/or working.

while all the mainland chinese people were chatting about their home country i was chatting with a very cheerful Polish guy named Jacek. He's already 33 but still very active and has a 2 year old daugther but obviously he didnt bring her to the dinner. We chatted about work, football, table tennis, life, history, Poland and about his future to work here or to go back to Poland. And yeah he was a nice chap. In between i chatted with a 40+ chinese psychologist who is currently doing a student research until end of the year. Surprisingly he spoke good english. After the dinner we took a group picture.

AND my point is....... SPOT ME!!!

Good luck... ^_^

Approaching the Deadliest...

As usual... time flies without our concern. We are now entering the 2nd third period of 2008 which signifies how little time i have left until my final exams. 17days left till my AS level examinations start. I wish i had spent my time more wisely so i wouldnt have to be worried bout it now. My exam time table goes on as follows:

12th May - History Unit 3 (Stalinist Russia)

23th May - Philosophy Unit 1 (epistemology), Unit 2 (Ethics), Unit 3 (Plato : The Republic)

2th June - Core Maths Unit 1 & 2
History Unit 1 (Russian Revolution), Unit 2 (Germany : Weimar Republic)

4th June - Economics Unit 1 (how market works), Unit 2 (why market fails),
Unit 3 (managing the economy)

6th June - Core Maths Unit 3

12th June - Core Maths Unit 4

The pressure is starting to set in and i noticed the transition of mentality from tidak-apa-banyak-masa-lagi to hell-no-please-postpone-the-exam-please-God-please among my friends. And now im already getting nervous too.

After all these exams would be busy doing my UCAS application to Oxford, Durham, Warwick for PPE course and UCL for social sciences. Still considering whether to apply to US unis such as Yale uni and Pennslyvania uni for social sciences ; Harvard and Stanford unis for Business.

sigh my 18th year alive isnt the year that i could enjoy the most but the year that would matter the most in terms of my future career. i always thought 18 should be a special year but now only i realised that i didnt even celebrate chinese new year or received any angpaus. and also it turned out to be the only year that i didnt blow a candle nor eaten a cake for my birthday. A thousand thanks to those who were with me during my birthday and those who remembered and wished me happy birthday. All of you made my life brighter in a year like this.

So envy those couples who work together, study together and support each other at a vital time like this. I wish the break-up came later in the year so i could still have her support now rather than it happening even before this year had started. sigh. over is over.

Exhausted...

today i went for a table tennis tournament organised by cambridge chinese association which was held at Churchill college cambridge. I didnt know how to get there so I spent about 2hours getting there but thank god i wasnt late for my match. the college is located in the outskirt of cambridge and therefore would normally take about 1hour walking distance rather than 2.

as expected it was organised by the cambridge chinese association so they were all chinese expect for one englishman who came in the afternoon to take part in the men singles. women singles started first and followed by mixed doubles which i took part in with a lady that i met for the first time. she's doing her 2nd master degree now in cambridge and her first master was in edinburgh. we did quite well and went all the way into the finals which would be played tomorrow.

In the afternoon/evening we had men singles which i took part in. I went all the way through to the finals but was badly beaten and in the end got only a second place. the players were all university students and most of them were born in 1984.

i didnt feel very happy about the defeat and decided to walk about 40mins to parkers piece to play football for only 15mins. sigh...

tomorrow will be the finals which means that its my second chance to clinch the title. i hope i wont make any mistakes and win the match to mark another milestone in my life.

Liverpool vs Arsenal Champions League

8th april 7:45pm
Liverpool vs Arsenal
Final score : liverpool 4 - 2 arsenal
agg : liverpool 5 - 3 arsenal

When i came back from college today at about 6pm i had around 10 chatboxes on msn and all of them were about arsenal's defeat to liverpool. really unbelievable all of them were about that match.

I didnt watch the whole match but only the highlights. I think both team played really well and in the end it was liverpool that got on the upper hand. It was a good game indeed. 2 out of 10 of the chatboxes were liverpool fans and they all didnt boost around but gave credit to arsenal for their young players such as fabregas and diaby, showed sympathy and said try again next year.

i had a chat with aidan yesterday night about the match and he didnt bother to boost around too and thought that arsenal were great but liverpool were so much better in anfield that night. same was to my college friend who wished arsenal good luck in defeating man utd in epl and be the champions.

out of the 10 chatboxes 8 were arsenal fans. obviously they were really sad for the defeat but some reacted very unprofessionally by saying that liverpool cheated as there was no foul on the liverpool player and there was to be no penalty. and some were angry and said it was a poor match and something else.

my point is... football is a very random game. there's no guarentee win nor lose. there's only a stronger or weaker side on the particular day. if we are defeated by an opposition who post out a very good display, there shouldnt be anyone making any fuss despite being defeated. however if you are defeated through a cheat like rooney dived and got a penalty against arsenal 2 seasons ago, that i can understand. but this match against liverpool i must say we have no reason to act unprofessionally unless if you are really unprofessional.

Turning 18 !!

today, as planned, i went to london with my friends to hang around and meet wan-ling and daniel. i reached london at about 10:30am and went to niketown with daniel. there's this nikeid thingy which allows you to design your own football boots such as the colour you want and you and also put your name and number on it. damn cool and i was so tempted to make one for myself. sigh. no budget...

later on we walked around oxford street and china town until daniel kept asking for food and stopped at a chinese restaurant for our 1st lunch. i had roast pork rice which cost £5.50. the service was terrible.

at around 2:30pm that slowpoke wan-ling finally arrived with two friends - amanda and kompol (thai). so then we had our 2nd lunch in this jap restaurant which was better than the chinese restaurant. we all had almost the same food but with different ingredients.

so after our 2nd lunch we went to shop again until night. i didnt plan to stay overnight but i was too tired to go to london again the next day so i stayed with wan-ling and her friends. we played cards till around 2am and we went to bed.

that was how i celebrated my 18th birthday. it was fun hanging around with friends and spending time together. oh and in return wan-ling will have me celebrating her birthday on 14th june in london.

to all those who have wished me happy birthday i thank you. hope all of you have a brilliant year ahead.

Easter Holiday...

Easter holiday started today after our final lesson today.

we went to nando's straight after lesson and sat there till 8:30pm playing some chinese game and eating. after that watched 10000bc which i would rate as less than half a star. my goodness it was terrible. i would recommend everyone not to watch it. waste of money £7.30. equivalent to rm50 for a movie. sigh.
